The Collect

The Minister, turning to the Altar, shall read on Sundays and Festival Days the proper Collect. On special occasions one of the following may be used:

O Lord God, Heavenly Father, Thou Who hast no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that they turn from their way and live; we pray Thee that Thou wouldst mercifully avert the punishment that our sins deserve, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Or:

We beseech Thee, Almighty God, Heavenly Father, to grant us a true faith, a firm hope in Thy mercy, and a sincere love to our fellow-men, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
