Constitution; a copy of this constitution is contained in United States Charters and Constitutions, Part II, p. 1557 where it appears that the same was framed by a convention which assembled at Harrisburg, May 2, 1837; it adjourned in December to Philadelphia, where it completed its labors, Feb. 22, 1838. This constitution was ratified by the people.

A copy of this constitution is contained in United States Charters and Constitutions, Part II, p. 1570, where it appears that "this constitution was framed by a convention which met at Harrisburg, Nov. 13, 1872, and adjourned to Philadelphia where it concluded its labors, Nov. 3, 1873." Then adjourned to Harrisburg, where it adjourned sine die. It was submitted to the qualified electors and ratified, Dec. 16, 1873.

Constitution Amendments. There have been twelve amendments to the constitution; three of them were adopted Nov. 5, 1901; the remaining nine, Nov. 2, 1909. (Pennsylvania State Library, Jan. 3, 1912.)
