Ye shall not enter into the king- of thy mother: dom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, The same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; For I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. Prov. 4. Enter not into the path of the wicked, And walk not in the way of evil men. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. But the path of the just is as the shining light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Ps. 34. Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good, seek peace and pursue it. Ps. 102. SELECTION 59 THE NEW YEAR My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass. But thou, O Lord, wilt abide for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations. Of old didst thou lay the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure; Yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy shall have no end. years Ps. 90. with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which groweth up. In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; In the evening it is cut down, and withereth. The days of our years are three score years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be four score years, Yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for soon it is cut off, and we fly away. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Return, O Lord, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy serv ants. Oh, satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, And the years wherein we have seen evil. Even from everlasting to everlast- Let thy work appear unto thy serving, thou art God. ants, and thy glory upon their children. And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: And establish thou the work of our hands upon us; Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. Thou art the King of Glory, O When thou tookest upon thee to deliver man, thou didst humble thyself to be born of a virgin. When thou hadst overcome the sharpness of death thou didst open the kingdom of heaven to all believers. Thou sittest at the right hand of God, in the glory of the Father. We believe that thou shalt come to be our Judge. We therefore pray thee, help thy servants, whom thou hast deemed with thy precious blood. re Make them to be numbered with thy saints, in glory everlasting. O Lord, save thy people, and bless thine heritage. Govern them, and lift them up for ever. Day by day we magnify thee; And we worship thy name ever, world without end. Vouchsafe, O Lord, to keep us this day without sin. O Lord, have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us. O Lord, let thy mercy be upon us, as our trust is in thee.
