BURSARIES, SCHOLARSHIPS, FELLOWSHIPS, AND PRIZES.

In the case of all Scholarships, Bursaries and Prizes awarded on the results of Competitions, the Senatus reserves the right to make no award in the event of Candidates failing to reach a sufficient standard of proficiency.

1.-Bursary Foundations.

At the commencement of each Winter Session a varying number of Bursaries are awarded by competition. Some of these are open to Students entering on the First Winter Session of their Medical Studies and others to Students entering on their Second Winter Session. Women are eligible to compete for and hold only such of the bursaries as have been founded prior to August, 1864.

I. COMPETITION BURSARIES.

1. WILLIAM CATTO, BANKER'S BURSARY.

This Bursary may be held in the Faculty of Medicine. For conditions, see Bursaries in Arts.

2. THE EDINBURGH ABERDEENSHIRE CLUB EXHIBITION. Founded in 1883, by the Edinburgh Aberdeenshire Club for Students of Law or Medicine from any school in the County of Aberdeen who have passed through the Arts Classes in the Uni

versity. The Exhibition to be awarded by Annual Competition, and to be held for the first year (1884-85) by a Student of Medicine, for the second year by a Student of Law, and for the third year by a Student of Medicine, and so on; the Students of Medicine to have two appointments for every one appointment of a Student of Law. The annual value of the Exhibition is £10 or thereby, payable at the end of each Winter Session. The next appointments of a student of Medicine will be made in 1928 for the academical year 1928-29, and in 1929 for the year 1929-30, and in 1931 for the year 1931-32.

3. DR. ISAAC GILCHRIST.*

Founded under the Trust Settlement of Dr. Alfred Gilchrist, M.A., 141 Blenheim Place, Aberdeen, dated 23 February, 1909, in memory of his brother, Dr. Isaac Gilchrist. One Competition Bursary for a Student in Medicine, male or female, tenable for the full Curriculum in Medicine and not to exceed £20 in annual value. Candidates-in the first place of the name of "Gilchrist," and in the second place of the name of "Fraser to be preferred ceteris paribus.

Founded in 1909 in terms of the will of Alexander Gillanders retired Customhouse Officer, Harrogate. The free revenue (about £15) is awarded annually by the Senatus, on the recommendation of the Medical Faculty, to a Student in the fourth or fifth year of his or her Medical Curriculum.

5. GRANT MEDICAL BURSARIES.*

Founded 1921, in terms of the Will of Miss Catherine Fyfe Grant, Seafield Place, Cullen. The number of Bursaries is four, of the annual value of £25, or thereby, tenable for four years and restricted to Students entering upon their Second Winter Session. The Bursaries are awarded on the previous academic record of the candidates, the circumstances of the candidates being also taken into account. Preference will be given to candidates born in the Parish of Cullen or the Parish of Huntly, or who, in the opinion of the University Court, have some substantial personal connection with either of said Parishes.

Applications must be made on a special form which has to be returned to the Secretary of the University not later than ten days after the commencement of the Winter Session.
