BURSARIES, SCHOLARSHIPS, AND PRIZES IN THE FACULTY OF DIVINITY.

In the case of all Scholarships, Bursaries and Prizes awarded on the results of Competitions, the Senatus reserves the right to make no award in the event of Candidates failing to reach a sufficent standard of proficiency.

Bursary Foundations.

I. COMPETITION BURSARIES.

1. BRUCE.

Founded in 1795, by the Rev. George Bruce, M.A., King's College. 1724, Minister, Dunbar. The Bursaries under this Foundation are now conjoined with the Fraser Bursary to form the Bruce and Fraser Scholarship (q.v.).

2. WILLIAM CATTO, BANKER'S BURSARY.

This Bursary may be held in the Faculty of Divinity. For conditions see Bursaries in Arts.

3. REV. DR. CORBET'S BURSARIES.

Founded in 1876, by Rev. Adam Corbet, M.A., Mar. Coll., 1816; D.D., 1864, Minister of Drumoak. By his Deed of Settlement he bequeathed to the University of Aberdeen £1000, to be under the sole control and management of the Professors of Divinity, Church History and Biblical Criticism. The yearly interest of this sum to form two (formerly four) Bursaries, of equal amounts, and be given after competitive trial-to be assigned by said Professors to Students of Divinity attending the regular course of study of Divinity and Theology in said University, with the view of their becoming Ministers of the Church of Scotland. The Bursaries are tenable for three years, and the annual value of each is one half of the free income of the Foundation.

4. FRASER.

Founded in 1730, by Dr. James Fraser of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea. The Bursary under this Foundation is now conjoined with the Bruce Bursaries to form the Bruce and Fraser Scholarship (q.v.). See also Fraser Bursary under Presentation Bursaries in this Faculty.
