There is a triumph-robe on high,
For bloodless fields of victory. 2. A martyr he who daily dies,
Himself with Christ who crucifies,
In loving, penitential fear.
That we to die through life may learn;
May see a glad eternity!
Through Jesus Christ Thine only Son ;
“ Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you wiil perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."- Phil. i. 6. 92 Lo
OVE divine, all love excelling,
Joy of Heaven, to earth come down ; Fix in us Thy humble dwelling,
Be Thou all our bliss and crown. 2. Jesu, Thou art endless pity,
Pure, unbounded Love Thou art;
Enter ev'ry longing heart.
Pure, unspotted may we be;
Rooted and built up in Thee ;-
At Thy throne in heaven we fall,
Filled with glory everlasting,
God alone our all in all. Amen.
“The Gentiles shall come to Thy light, and Kings to the brightness of Thy rising.”—Isa. lx. 3. 93 ONLY Light of those whose dwelling
Borders on the shades of death;
Scatter ev'ry cloud beneath :
Life and joy Thy beams impart,
Ev'ry meek and contrite heart. 2. Show Thy power in ev'ry nation,
Q Thou Prince of peace and love !
Fix our hearts on things above :
Ev'ry captive soul release ;
“For we must all appear before the judgment-seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done in his body."-2 Cor. v. 10. 94 THOU Judge of quick and dead,
Before Whose bar severe,
We all must soon appear ; 2. Our ransomed souls prepare
For that most awful day,
And teach us how to pray;
3. To pray, and wait the hour,
That dreadful hour unknown,
Thou shalt from heaven come down. 4. 0, may we all be found
Obedient to Thy word,
And looking for our Lord. 5. Jesu, Eternal Son,
To Thee all glory be,
Through all eternity. Amen.
THE TRANSFIGURATION. And was transfigured before them: and His face did shine as the sun, and His raiment was white as the light."S. Matt. xvii. 2. 95 How tenderly, how patiently,
Jesu! Thou winnest souls to Thee; Now for our sakes as God reveald,
Now in deep lowliness conceal'd.
We too are all adopted sons ;
Is pledged to us eternally.
What on the mount doth Jesus prove?
The Truth itself remains alone. 4. Obedient to the Father's will,
The world's atonement to fulfil,
5. O Christ, Whom now on earth we see
Through faith's dark glass imperfectly,
To see Thee face to face with joy ! 6. The soul's dark gloom, O Lord, dispel,
And fit us in Thy Light to dwell :
HOSEA, vi. 1-4.
With contrite hearts return;
The desolate to mourn.
And stills the stormy wave;
'Tis also strong to save.
The dawn shall bring us light;
With gladness in His sight.
Shall know Him and rejoice;
Like morning songs His voice. 5. As dew upon the tender herb,
Diffusing fragrance round;
And cheer the thirsty ground ;
And shed a joyful light;
That hallowed morn shall chase away
The sorrows of the night. Amen.
REVELATIONS, i. 5-9. 97 To Him That loved the souls of men,
And wash'd us from our stain ; And made us kings and priests to God,
With Him in heaven to reign.
And ev'ry heart be love;
And nobler songs above.
His saints shall bless the day;
In anguish and dismay.
Time centres all in Me;
And evermore shall be. Amen.
