A Hymn to our SAVIOUR JESUS, compofed by St. Bernard.

JES

Jefu dulcis Memoria.

ESUS, the only thought of thee,
With sweetness fills my breaft;

But fweeter ftill it is to fee,

And on thy beauty feast.

No theme fo foft, or found fo

Can art of mufic frame;

gay,

No words, or even thought can fay,
Thy moft mellifluous name.
Sole hope, when we our fins repent,
So bounteous of thy grace;
If thus thou'rt good, while we lament,
Oh! what when face to face,
JESUS! that name infpires my mind,
With springs of life and light;
More than I afk in thee I find,
And lavish in delight.

No eloquence nor art can reach
The joys of those above;

The bleft can only know, not teach
What they in JESUS prove.
They then I'll feek retir'd apart,
From world and business free;
When noise invades, I'll fhut my heart,
And keep it all for thee.
