The householder faid to the workmen, why ftand you here all the day idle? but they anfwering, faid, because no man has hired us. Go ye allo into my vineyard, and what shall Be juft, I will give you.

The Prayer.

Ive ear, we beseech thee, O Lord, to the prayers of thy people, that we, who for our fins are juftly afflicted, for the glory of thy name, may be mercifully delivered: through our Lord.

The Anthem on Sexagefima-Sunday.

To you it is granted to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to others in parables, faid Jefus to his difciples. Verf. Let my prayer, as before.

The Prayer.

God, who fee'ft that we trust not in our on actions; mercifully grant, that by the protection of the apoftles of the Gentiles, we may be defended against all adverfities! through our Lord.

The Anthem on Quinquagefima-Sunday.

And Jelus ftopping, commanded the blind man to be brought to him; and fays to him, what wilt thou have me to do for thee? O Lord, that may fee. And Jefus faid to him, look up, thy faith has healed thee. And forthwith he faw, and followed Lim, magnifying God.

Lord, we beseech thee, mercifully hear our Prayers; and having freed us from the bonds of fin, preferve us from all adverfities through our Lord.

Grant, OLord, to thy faithful, that they

may enter upon this solemn faft with a due Piety, and go through it with a fecure devotion through our Lord.

God, who by fin art offended, and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of thy people, who make fupplication to thee; and turn away the fcourges of thy anger, which we deferve for our fins : Through our Lord.

Then thou shalt require help, and our Lord will graciously hear; thou fhalt cry, and he will fay, behold I am here.

IVE ear, O Lord, to our prayers; that with a true devotion we may observe this folemn faft, which is piously instituted for giving health both to our foul and body: Through our Lord.

Behold, now is the acceptable time, behold now the days of falvation; in thefe days therefore, let us fhew ourselves the fervants of God, in much patience, in fafting, in watchings, and fincere charity.

God, who purifieft thy church by the yearly obfervation of Lent; grant to thy faithful, that what they endeavour to obtain of thee by fafting, they may duly practife in good works: Through our Lord.
