IRELAND, AS IT WAS, AS IT IS.

AND AS (BY THE GRACE OF GOD)

IT WILL BE.

WERTHEIM AND MACINTOSH, 24, PATERNOSTER ROW, LONDON.

We, the Committee of the General Irish Reformation Society, earnestly recommend to our Subscribers the above Work. It is written by a Life Member of the Society, and generously given for it. We feel it must both profit and please all who read it. It is at this time particularly valuable, treating, as it does, very powerfully on the present Political and Religious state of the Country. -Quarterly Paper, April, 1851:

TO THE AUTHOR.

"In the small compass of your interesting little work, you have clearly proved what Ireland was,' and 'what is is,' and you are employing some of the best means to accomplish what you hope it will be.

"I trust, by the exertions of such friends as yourself, Mrs. Colonel Inglis, and others, the real wants of Ireland will be made known, and the best means provided for the present and eternal welfare of its inhabitants."-From the Rev. W. Marsh, D.D.

"A beautiful little summary of Irish Church History, containing more concise information than seemed possible to be crowded into so few pages-well worthy the study of the historian, the statesman, and the Christian; showing how that Ireland has been made the chief difficulty of England by the implantation of Popery, whilst the remedy recommended is not less sure than simple-the Gospel."-Colonel Lewis.

"This little tract is the production of an Englishwoman. She traces the state of Religion as St. Patrick taught it, and shows that it was essentially different from that for which the island was afterwards indebted to the piety of the English monarch, Henry II. and the Pope. The writer founds her hope of its future advancement on the dissemination of Christian knowledge, as derived from its true source, the Bible." -Dublin Evening Mail.

"The book well deserves perusal, and cannot be too widely circulated, since it abounds in facts, and these facts clothed in language which speaks devout feeling."— Christian Witness.

"An excellent little book, with a most interesting and instructive historical statement of the introduction and progress of Christianity in the country; a sketch of the doctrines taught in the early Irish Church, and an account of the intrigues and cabals for the admission of Popery in the twelfth century. 'Saint' Malachy O'Morghair, King Henry II., and Pope Adrian IV., have their doings set forth in their machinations against the religion and liberties of old Ireland; while the National Board is not allowed to pass unscathed, as being a scandal to humanity, not to say to a Protestant Government; and to the abominations of Popery, and its priesthood in the land, are justly ascribed the misery and degradation of our poor afflicted fellowcountrymen;-at the same time, that the Word of God is the only code of laws that can ameliorate unhappy Ireland."-Dublin Christian Examiner.
