All the plenty summer pours,
Autumn's rich o'erflowing stores,
Flocks that whiten all the plain,
Yellow sheaves of ripen'd grain:
Lord, for these our souls shall raise
Grateful vows, and solemn praise.

Should Thine alter'd hand withhold
Blessings on the field or fold;
Yet, Thy grace upon us pour
Thee to praise in darkest hour,
And, when every blessing's flown,
Love Thee, for Thyself alone.

Close of the Year.

SING to the great Jehovah's praise;
All praise to Him belongs,
Who kindly lengthens out our days,
Demands our thankful songs.

Father, Thy mercies past we own,
Thy still continued care,
To Thee presenting, thro' Thy Son,
Whate'er we have or are.

Our lips and lives shall gladly show
The wonders of Thy love,
While on in Jesu's steps we go,
To see Thy face above.

250.

The remnant of our days or hours
Thine, wholly Thine, shall be,
And all our consecrated powers
A sacrifice to Thee.

251.

FOR Thy mercy and Thy grace,
Constant thro' another year,
Hear our song of thankfulness;
Father and Redeemer, hear.

In our weakness and distress,

Rock of strength! be Thou our stay: In the pathless wilderness,

Be our true and living Way.

Which of us death's awful road
In the coming year shall tread ?
With Thy rod and staff, O God,
Comfort Thou his dying bed.

Make us faithful: make us pure :
Keep us evermore Thine own:
Help Thy servants to endure:
Fit us for the promis'd crown.

So within Thy palace gate

We shall praise, on golden strings,
Thee, the only Potentate,

Lord of lords, and King of kings.

252.

Hymn for Advent.

DAY of wrath! O day of mourning!
See! once more the Cross returning-
Heaven and earth to ashes burning!

Oh what fear the sinner rendeth,
When from heaven the Judge descendeth,
On Whose sentence all dependeth!

Wondrous sound the Trumpet flingeth,
Thro' earth's sepulchres it ringeth,
All before the Throne it bringeth!

Death is struck, and nature quaking-
All creation is awaking,

To its Judge an answer making!

Lo! the Book, exactly worded!
Wherein all hath been recorded ;-
Thence shall judgment be awarded.

When the Judge His seat attaineth,
And each hidden deed arraigneth,
Nothing unaveng'd remaineth.

What shall I, frail man, be pleading,
Who for me be interceding,
When the just are mercy needing?

King of Majesty tremendous,
Who dost free salvation send us,
Fount of pity, then befriend us!

I.

Think! kind Jesu, my salvation
Caus'd Thy wondrous Incarnation;
Leave me not to reprobation!

Faint and weary Thou hast sought me,
On the Cross of suffering bought me;
Shall such grace be vainly brought me!

Guilty, now I pour my moaning,
All my shame with anguish owning;
Spare, O God, Thy suppliant groaning!

Worthless are my prayers and sighing,
Yet, good Lord, in grace complying,
Rescue me from fires undying.

Ah! that day of tears and mourning!
From the dust of earth returning
Man for judgment must prepare him;
Spare, O God, in mercy spare him!

Lord, Who didst our ransom pay,
Grant us rest with Thee, we pray.

Gloría.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
The God Whom we adore,

Be glory; as it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

PRAISE We the Father, and the Son,
And Spirit evermore,

The blessed, glorious Three in One,
Whom heaven and earth adore.

D. C. M.

To God, our Benefactor, bring
The tribute of your praise;
Too small for an Almighty King,
But all that we can raise.
Glory to Thee, blest Three in One,
The God Whom we adore ;

As was, and is, and shall be done,
When time shall be no more.

FROM all the heavenly host,
And all on earth below,

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
Let endless praises flow.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

The God Whom earth and heaven adore, Be glory; as it was of old,

Is now, and shall be evermore.

VI.
To God the Father, God the Son,
And God the Spirit, Three in One,
Be honor, praise, and glory given,
By all on earth, and all in heaven.
