Thou dost conduct Thy people Through torrents of temptation; Nor will we fear, While Thou art near, The fire of tribulation.
The world with sin and Satan
In vain our march opposes;
By Thee we shall Break through them all, Till death the conflict closes.
By faith we see the glory,
To which Thou shalt restore us; The world despise For that high prize, Which Thou hast set before us.
And, if Thou count us worthy, We each as dying Stephen,
Shall see Thee stand At GOD's right Hand, To take us up to heaven.
GUIDE us, O Thou Great JEHOVAH, Pilgrims through this barren land; We are weak, but Thou are mighty; Hold us with Thy powerful Hand.
Bread of Heaven! Feed us till we want no more.
Open Thou the living fountain,
Whence the healing waters flow;
Let the fiery, cloudy, pillar,
Lead us all our journey through:
Strong Deliverer! Be Thou still our strengthand shield.
When we tread the verge of Jordan, Bid our anxious fears subside;
Bear us through the swelling torrent, Land us safe on Canaan's side:
Songs of praises We will ever give to Thee.
LORD, dismiss us with Thy Blessing; Bid us all depart in peace;
Let us each, Thy Love possessing, Triumph in redeeming Grace:
O refresh us, Travelling through this wilderness. Thanks we give, and adoration, For the Gospel's joyful sound: May the fruits of Thy salvation In our hearts and lives abound: May Thy Presence With us evermore be found. So, whene'er the signal's given Us from earth to call away, Borne on angels' wings to heaven, Glad the summons to obey,
May we ever Reign with Christ in endless day.
HYMN CCXLVII.
SAVIOUR! we part awhile,
Yet still in spirit joined,
Each to the daily toil
Thou hast to each assigned:
And while we do Thy Blessed Will, O shed Thy peace within us still. Haste, haste the happy day
That calls us to our Home! The heavens shall pass away,
The earth receive her doom;
Earth we shall see and heaven destroyed, And shout above the fiery void.
According to Thy Word,
Thy solemn promise given,
We look to see restored
The ruined earth and heaven- In a new world Thy Truth to prove, A world of righteousness and love.
Then let us wait the sound, That shall our souls release, And labour to be found
Of Thee in spotless peace— In perfect holiness renewed,
Adorned with CHRIST, and meet for GOD.
DISMISS us with Thy Blessing, LORD; Help us to feed upon Thy Word; All Thou hast marked amiss forgive, And let Thy Truth within us live. Though we are guilty, Thou art Good; O cleanse our souls in JESUS' Blood; Give every troubled soul release, And bid us all depart in peace.
Now may He, Who from the dead Brought the Shepherd of the sheep- JESUS CHRIST, our King and Head- All our souls in safety keep!
May He teach us to fulfil
What is pleasing in His sight-
Perfect us in all His Will,
And preserve us day and night!
May the Grace of Christ our Saviour, And the Father's boundless Love, With the Holy Spirit's Favour, Rest upon us from above.
Thus may we abide in union,
With each other and the LORD; And possess, in sweet communion, Joys which earth cannot afford.
