HYMN CLXXVII.

COME, ye thankful people, come,
Raise the song of Harvest-Home!
All is safely gathered in,
Ere the winter storms begin:
GOD, our Maker, doth provide
For our wants to be supplied;
Come to GOD's own temple, come,
Raise the song of Harvest-Home!

We ourselves are GOD's own field,
Fruit unto His praise to yield—
Wheat and tares together sown,
Unto joy or sorrow grown;
First the blade, and then the ear,
Then the full corn shall appear;
Grant, O Harvest-Lord, that we
Wholesome grain and pure may be.

Double 7s.

For the LORD our GOD shall come,
And shall take His Harvest Home-
From the Field shall purge away
All that doth offend that day-
Give His angels charge at last
In the fire the tares to cast,
But the fruitful ears to store
In His Garner evermore.

Then, Thou Church triumphant, come,
Raise the song of Harvest-Home!

All are safely gathered in,

Free from sorrow, free from sin-
There for ever, purified,

In GOD'S Garner to abide :
Come, ten thousand angels, come,
Raise the glorious Harvest-Home!

HYMN CLXXVIII.

O KING of Kings! Thy blessing shed
On our anointed Sovereign's head;
And, looking from Thy Throne in heaven,
Protect the crown Thyself hast given.

Her for Thy sake may we obey,
Uphold her right, and love her sway-
Remembering, all the powers that be
Are ministers ordained of Thee.

By her this favoured nation bless;
To all her counsels give success;
Thou hast her helper ever been;
O help her still on Thee to lean.
And when all earthly thrones decay,
And earthly glories fade away,
Give her a nobler throne on high,
A crown of immortality.

NATIONAL HYMN.

HYMN CLXXIX.

GOD save our gracious Queen!

Long live our noble Queen!
GOD save the Queen!

Send her victorious,

Happy and glorious,

Long to reign over us,

GOD save the Queen!

Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour :
Long may she reign!

May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause,
To sing, with heart and voice,
GOD save the Queen!

HYMN CLXXX.

LORD, Thou hast bid thy people pray
For all that bear the Sovereign sway,
And Thine anointed reign-
Rulers and governors and powers:
Behold! in faith we pray for ours,
Nor can we pray in vain.
Cover her enemies with shame,
Defeat their every hostile aim,
Their baffled hopes destroy;

But shower on her Thy blessings down,
Crown her with peace, with glory crown,
And everlasting joy.

PUBLIC FAST DAY.

HYMN CLXXXI.

LORD, look on all assembled here,

Who in Thy Presence stand,

To offer up united prayer

For this our guilty land.

O may we all, with one consent,

Fall low before Thy Throne,
With tears our people's sins lament,

Our fathers' and our own.

Great GOD of Hosts, the mighty LORD!
To us, who trust in Thee,

Thy favour and defence afford

In our extremity.

Or, if the dread decree be past,
And we must feel the rod,

Let faith and patience hold us fast
To our chastising GOD.

Whatever be our destined case,
Accept us in Thy Son;

Give us Thy Gospel, and Thy Grace,
And then-Thy Will be done.

HYMN CLXXXII.

O LORD, Thy suppliant people see,
And own their humble claim,
Who bring their grief and fear to Thee,
And plead the Saviour's Name.

Father, whate'er Thy Will denies,
We calmly would resign;

For Thou art good, and just, and wise
Subdue our will to Thine.

Whate'er Thy sacred Will ordains,
O give us strength to bear;
Still let us feel Thy Goodness reigns,
And trust Thy tender care.

Thy sovereign ways are all unknown
To our imperfect sight;

Yet let our souls, adoring, own
That all Thy ways are right.

HYMN CLXXXIII.

ALMIGHTY GOD, before Thy throne
Thy mourning people bend;

For on Thy pardoning grace alone
Our prostrate hopes depend.

Dark judgments from Thy chastening Hand
Thy dreadful power display;

Yet Mercy spares our guilty land,

And still we live to pray.

Turn us, O turn us, mighty LORD,
Convert us by Thy Grace;
Let every heart obey Thy Word,
And humbly seek Thy Face.

Then, LORD, though threatened and dismayed,

We shall not sink in fear

Secure of never-failing aid,
If GOD, our GOD, be near.

HYMN CLXXXIV.

JESUS shall reign where'er the sun
Doth his successive journeys run-

L. M.

His Kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
Till moons shall wax and wane no more.
People and realms of every tongue
Shall tell His Love with sweetest song;
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on his name.
Blessings abound where'er He reigns;
The prisoner leaps to loose his chains;
The weary find eternal rest,

And all the sons of want are blest.
Let every creature rise and bring
Peculiar honours to our King,
Angels descend with songs again,
And earth repeat the loud Amen.

HYMN CLXXXV.

FROM all, that dwell below the skies,
Let the Creator's praise arise;
Let the Redeemer's Name be sung,
Through every land, by every tongue.
Eternal are Thy Mercies, LORD;
Eternal truth attends Thy Word;

L. M

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore,
Till suns shall rise and set no more.

HYMN CLXXXVI.

SING to the LORD in joyful strains,
His glorious praise resound,
Ye, who upon the ocean dwell,
And fill the isles around.

O City of the LORD, begin
The universal song!

And let the distant tribes of earth

The cheerful notes prolong.
