TUESDAY EVENING.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits; even the God of our salvation. Ps. lxviii. 19.

My mouth shall praise thee with joyful

lips;

When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Ps. lxiii. 5, 6.

Thou art my God, I will praise thee; thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

O give thanks unto the Lord, for for he is good for his mercy endureth for ever. Ps. cxviii. 28, 29.

LET US PRAY.

O Lord God, we fall down before Thee at the close of another day, thanking and

praising Thee for the mercy Thou hast shown us, and imploring Thee for a continuance of Thy protection, without which

could not exist; for Thou art our keeper, Thou art our shade upon our right hand. Withhold not thine hand, O Lord. Consider not our iniquities; our iniquities; for if Thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. O give us grace, that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armour of light; that at the last day, when Christ shall come again, in His glorious Majesty, to judge both the quick and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal, through Him who reigneth with Thee for ever. O our Father, hear our prayer-forgive our shortcomings; for we desire to serve Thee with

our best abilities. O Lord, but the flesh is weak. Fill our hearts with love to Thee, so that it may influence all our actions. Make* us perfect in every good work; and work in us that which is well-pleasing in Thy sight, through Jesus Christ.

The spirit is willing,

He careth for you! 1 PET. v. 7.
The daily favours of our God,
We cannot sing at large:

Yet let us make this holy boast,
We are th' Almighty's charge.

Lord, in the day Thou art about
The paths wherein we tread;
And in the night, when we lie down,
Thou art about our bed.

* Jude 21.

Oh! let this house a temple be;
That all of us may sing
Hosannas to Thy Majesty,

And praise our heavenly King.

Thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isa. lvii. 15.

God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Pet. v. 5.

I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. John xi. 25, 26.

Surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God. Eccl. viii. 12.

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his works be pure, and whether it be right. Prov. xx. 11.

By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. Prov. xxii. 4.

Boast not thyself of to-morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Prov. xxvii. 1.
