ST. ANN'S. C. M.

1. In all my Lord's appointed ways, My journey

Hinder me not, ye much-loved saints! For

DR. CROFT.

I'll pur-sue;

I must go with you.

[blocks in formation]

1. ALAS, what hourly dangers rise!
What snares beset my way!
To heaven O let me lift mine eyes,
And hourly watch and pray.

2. How oft my mournful thoughts complain,
And melt in flowing tears!
My weak resistance!-ah, how vain!
How strong my foes and fears!

3. O gracious God! in whom I live,
My feeble efforts aid;

Help me to watch, and pray, and strive,
Though trembling and afraid.

4. Increase my faith-increase my hope,
When foes and fears prevail;
And bear my fainting spirit up,
Or soon my strength will fail.

[blocks in formation]

1. THROUGH all the changing scenes of life, In trouble, and in joy,

The praises of my God shall still

My heart and tongue employ.

2. Of His deliverance I will boast,
Till all, who are distress'd,
From my example comfort take,
And charm their griefs to rest.
3. Oh! magnify the Lord with me,
With me exalt His name;
When in distress to Him I called,
He to my rescue came.

4. The hosts of God encamp around
The dwellings of the just;
Deliverance He affords to all
Who on His succor trust.

5. Oh! make but trial of His love;
Experience will decide-

How blest are they, and only they,
Who in His truth confide.

6. Fear Him, ye saints! and ye will then
Have nothing else to fear;
Make ye His service your delight-
He'll make your wants His care.

2. 'T was grace that taught my heart to fear, 1. COME, let us join our songs of praise And grace my fears relieved:

How precious did that grace appear,

The hour I first believed!

3. Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come;

'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.

4. The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;

He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

5. Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease,

I shall possess, within the vail,

A life of joy and peace.

6. The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine;

But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be for ever mine.

NEWTON,

To our ascended Priest;

He entered heaven, with all our names
Engraven on His breast.

2. Below He washed our guilt away

By His atoning blood;

Now He appears before the throne,
And pleads our cause with God.

3. Clothed with our nature still, He knows The weakness of our frame,

And how to shield us from the foes
Whom He Himself o'ercame.

4. Nor time, nor distance, e'er shall quench The fervor of His love;

For us He died in kindness here,
For us He lives above.

5. O may we ne'er forget His grace,
Nor blush to bear His name;

Still may our hearts hold fast His faith-
Our lips His praise proclaim.

CAMPBELL'S COLL

[blocks in formation]

1. THERE is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel's veins;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains.

2. The dying thief rejoiced to see

That fountain in his day;
And there may I, as vile as he,
Wash all my sins away.

3. Dear, dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its power

Till all the ransomed church of God
Be saved, to sin no more.

4. E'er since, by faith, I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be, till I die.

5. Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I'll sing Thy power to save,

When this poor, lisping, stammering
Lies silent in the grave.

2. "Worthy the Lamb that died," they cry, "To be exalted thus;" "Worthy the Lamb," our lips reply, "For He was slain for us."

3. Jesus is worthy to receive

Honor and power divine;

And blessings, more than we can give,
Be, Lord, for ever thine.

4. Let all that dwell above the sky, And air, and earth, and seas, Conspire to lift Thy glories high, And speak Thine endless praise.

5. The whole creation join in one,
To bless the sacred name
Of Him that sits upon the throne,
And to adore the Lamb.

2. Let elders worship at His feet, The church adore around, With vials full of odors sweet,

And harps of sweeter sound.

3. Now to the Lamb that once was slain,
Be endless blessings paid;
Salvation, glory, joy, remain

For ever on Thy head.

4. Thou hast redeemed our souls with blood, Hast set the prisoners free,

Hast made us kings and priests to God,
And we shall reign with Thee.

5. The worlds of nature and of grace
Are put beneath Thy power;
Then shorten these delaying days,
And bring the promised hour.

WATTS.

1. MY Saviour! my almighty Friend!
When I begin Thy praise,

Where will the growing numbers end-
The numbers of Thy grace?

2. Thou art my everlasting trust;
Thy goodness I adore;

And since I knew Thy graces first,
I speak Thy glories more.

3. My feet shall travel all the length
Of the celestial road;

And march, with courage, in Thy strength,
To see my Father-God.

4. When I am filled with sore distress

For some surprising sin,

[blocks in formation]

1. PLUNGED in a gulf of dark despair,
We wretched sinners lay,
Without one cheerful beam of hope,
Or spark of glimmering day.

2. With pitying eyes the Prince of grace Beheld our helpless grief;

He saw, and-O amazing love!-
He ran to our relief.

3. Down from the shining seats above,
With joyful haste He fled,
Entered the grave in mortal flesh,
And dwelt among the dead.

4. O for this love let rocks and hills
Their lasting silence break;
And all harmonious human tongues
The Saviour's praises speak.

5. Angels! assist our mighty joys;
Strike all your harps of gold:
But when you raise your highest notes,
His love can ne'er be told.

is the brightest of the train, And strengthens all the rest, And strengthens all the rest.

1. LORD! 't is an infinite delight
To see Thy lovely face,

To dwell whole ages in Thy sight,
And feel Thy vital rays.

2. While the bright nation sounds Thy praise From each eternal hill,

Sweet odors of exhaling grace,
The happy region fill.

3. Thy love a sea without a shore,
Spreads life and joy abroad-
Oh, 't is a heaven worth dying for,
To see a smiling God!

4. Show me Thy face, and I'll away

From all inferior things;

Speak Lord, and here I quit my clay,
And stretch my airy wings.

1. JESUS-the name high over all, In hell, or earth, or skyAngels and men before it fall, And devils fear and fly.

WATTS.

2. Jesus-the name to sinners dear,
The name to sinners given-
It scatters all their guilt and fear;
It turns their hell to heaven.

3. Oh that a dying world might know
The glory of His name;
My voice shall His salvation show,
And cry-"Behold the Lamb!"
4. Happy, if with my latest breath
I may but gasp His name;
Proclaim His love, and cry in death-
"Behold, behold the Lamb!"
