the boil; the priest shall pronounce him unclean. 21, But if there be no white hairs, and it be not deeper than the skin, but darkish, then the priest shall shut him up seven days. 22, And if it be spread on the skin, it is a leprosy; the priest shall pronounce him unclean. 23. But if the bright spot spread not, it is only an inflamed boil; the priest shall pro, nounce him clean.

24. If one's skin be burnt, and have a bright, red, and white mark, 25. The priest shall look upon it; and if the hair in the bright mark be turned white, and be deeper than the skin, it is a leprosy broken out of the burning; the priest shall pronounce him unclean. 26. But if there be no white hair on the bright spot, and it be no deeper than the skin, but only darkish, the priest shall shut him up seven days, 27. And examine it the seventh; and if it be much spread on the skin, it is a leprosy; the priest shall pronounce him unclean; 28, But if the spot spread not, but be only darkish, it is only the scar of the burning; the priest shall pro, nounce him unclean.

29. If a woman or a man have a sore on the head, or beard, 30. The priest shall examine it, and if it be deeper than the skin, and have yellow thin hair upon it, the priest shall pronounce the one unclean; it is a leprous scall on the head or beard. 31. And if the priest look on the scaly sore, and it be not deeper than the skin, and have no black hair on it, he shall shut him up seven days; 32. And on the seventh, if it be not spread, and have no yellow hair on it, nor be deeper than the skin, 33. He shall be shaven, except where the scurf is, and be shut up seven days more; 34. And on the seventh day, if it be not spread, nor be deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; he shall wash his clothes, and be clean. 35. But if the scurf spread much in the skin after his cleansing, 36, The priest shall not look for yellow hair, he is un

clean. 37. But if it be at a stay, and have black hair on it, he is healing; the priest shall pronounce him clean.

38. If a man or a woman have whitish spots in the skin or flesh, 39. The priest shall look on them, and if they be darkish white, it is only a spreckled spot on the skin, he is clean. 40. Though a man's head be bald, yet he is clean, 41. Whether it be on the forehead or crown. 42. But if there be in the bald head a whitish red sore, it is a leprosy arisen on it. 43. The priest shall look on it; and if the swelling sore be reddish white, like the appear ance of the leprosy, 44. He is leprous; and the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean, as having the leprosy in his head.

45. And he who hath the plague of the leprosy, shall have his clothes rent, and his head bare, and his upper lip covered (as mourners, that none may salute him), and he shall cry, Unclean, unclean! 46. Being unclean whilst the plague of the leprosy continues. He shall go out of the camp and dwell alone.

47. The garment also wherein the plague of the leprosy is, whether it be woolen or linen, 48. In the warp or woof, or in any thing made of skin, 49. If it be greenish or reddish in the garment or in the skin, being the plague of the leprosy, it shall be shewn to the priest. 50. And having looked on it, he shall shut it up seven days; 51. And on the seventh, if it be spread, it is a fretting leprosy; the thing wherein it is being unclean, 52. Shall be burnt; 53. But if it be not spread when the priest examines it, 54. He shall command it to be washed, and shut up seven days more; 55. Then if its colour. be not changed, though the plague be not spread, it is unclean; it is a fretting leprosy; whether it be within or without the cloth, it shall be burnt; 56. But if it be only darkish after the washing, then he shall tear, out the part from the garment or the skin; 57. And

if it appear in any other part of these, it is a spread ing plague, and shall be burnt; 58. Then the gar ment or thing from which the plague is departed, shall be washed a second time; so it shall be clean. 59. In this manner shall it be judged and done with the plague of the leprosy.

CHAP. XIV.

THE CLEANSING OF THE LEPER.

THE Eternal said also to Moses, 2. The law for cleansing the leper is this: he shall come to the priest, 3. Who shall meet him without the camp (or city), to see if the plague of the leprosy be healed; 4. And if it be healed, the priest shall command him to take for his cleansing two clean liv. ing birds, cedar wood, scarlet thread, and hyssop; 5. And cause one of the birds to be killed in an earthen vessel over running water, 6. And take the living bird, and the cedar wood, the scarlet, and the hyssop, and dip them in the blood of the bird that was killed, 7. And sprinkle seven times on him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy, and pronounce him clean, and let the living bird go. 8. And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and himself in water, and shave off all his hair, that he may be clean; and after that he shall come into the camp, but stay seven days without his tent: 9. On the seventh he shall shave off all his hair, even that of his eye-brows, and wash his clothes and himself in water, and be clean.

10. And on the eighth day he shall take two male lambs and one female, of a year old, without blemish, with the tenth of an ephath of fine flour mingled with oil, and one log of oil, for a meat-offering; 11. And the priest who cleanses shall present him that is to be made clean, with those things, before the Eternal at the tabernacle door. 12. And the priest shall take one male lamb for a guilt-offering,

with the log of oil, and wave them for a wave-offering before the Eternal. 13. And he shall slay the lamb in the holy place where he kills the sin-offer. ing and the burnt-offering; for as the sin-offering is the priest's, so is the guilt-offering, being most holy. 14. Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt-offering, and put it on the top of his right ear that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot. 15. The priest shall also take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand, 16. And dip his right fore-finger in it, and sprinkle of it with his finger seven times before the Eternal; 17. And some of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall he put upon the top of his right ear that is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot, where the blood of the guilt-offering was put; 18. And the rest of the oil that is in the priest's right hand, he shall pour on his head that is to be cleans. ed, and make atonement for him before the Eternal. 19. And offer his sin-offering again, making atonement for him, and afterward he shall kill the burnt-offering, 20. And offer it and the meat-offer ing on the altar, making atonement for him, and he shall be clean. 21. But if he be poor, and can❤ not afford so much, then he shall take one lamb for a guilt-offering for his atonement, to be waved, and one tenth of an ephath of fine flour, mingled with oil, and a log of oil, for a meat-offering, 22. And two turtle doves, or two pigeons, such as he is able to get, the one for a sin-offering, and the other a burnt-offering; 23. And bring them the eighth day to the priest to the tabernacle door, before the Eternal, for his cleansing; 24. And the priest shall take the lamb of the guilt-offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave-offering before the Eternal; 25. And kill the lamb of the guilt-offering, and take some of its blood, and pour it on the top of his right

ear that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot; 26. And the priest shall pour some of the oil into the palm of his own left hand, 27. And sprinkle with his right finger some of that oil seven times before the Eternal. 28. And he shall put some of the oil that is in his left hand on the top of his right ear that is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot, on the place where the blood of the guilt-offering was put; 29. And the rest of the oil that is in his hand, on the top of his head that is to be cleansed, to make atonement for him before the Eternal. 30. And he shall offer one of the turtle doves, or pigeons, 31. Such as he is able to get, for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering, with the meat-offering; making atonement for him that is to be cleansed before the Eternal.

32. This is the law for his cleansing that hath the leprosy, and who is not able to get more.

33. The Eternal said also to Moses and Aaron, 34. When ye are come into Canaan, which I give you to possess, and I let the plague of the leprosy come into a house, 35. The owner of the house shall come and tell the priests that the leprosy appears to be in the house.

36. Then the priest shall command to empty the house, before he come in to see the plague, that all which is in it be not made unclean; but what can be purified may be removed.

37. And when he enters it, and examines it if the plague be in the walls, with moist strakes, greenish or reddish, deeper than their surface, 38. Then the priest shall come out and shut it up seven days; 39. And on the seventh he shall look if it be spread on the walls.

40. Then he shall command to take away the stones wherein the plague is, and cast them into an unclean place without the city; 41. And cause the
