He married Elizabeth Mitchel in New York in 1840 and they became the parents of seven children, one of whom was Thomas Judson Gates (1847-1910). Thomas married Sarah Elizabeth Funk (1860-1906) in 1877 and they settled in Funks Grove, Illinois where they became the parents of seven children. One their children was William Evelyn Gates (1883-1956) who married Clara Esther Burkhart (1895-1981) in 1912. They were the parents of nine children. Descendants live in Illinois and other parts of the United States. |
