29. Abraham faith unto him, They have Mofes and the PROPHETS; let them hear them.

30. And he faid, Nay, Father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the Dead, they will repent.

31. And he faid unto him, If they hear not Mofes and the PROPHETS, neither will they be perfwaded, though one rofe from the DEAD.

ND he fpake a Parable unto them, to this end, that Men ought ALWAYS to PRAY, and not to

FAINT;

2. Saying, There was in a City a Judge, which feared not God, neither regarded Man.

3. And there was a Widow in that City, and the came unto him, faying, Avenge me of mine Adverfary.

4. And he would not for a while: but afterward he faid within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard Man;

5. Yet because this Widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, left by her continual coming she weary me.

6. And the Lord faid, Hear what the unjust Judge faith. 7. And fhall not God avenge his own Elect, which cry Day and Night unto him, though he bear long with them?

8. I tell you that he will avenge them fpeedily. Neverthelefs, when the Son of Man cometh, fhall he find Faith on the Earth?

Of the Pharifee and Publican.

Ver. 9.AND he fpake this Parable unto certain which trufted in themselves that they were RIGHTEous, and despised others :

10. Two Men went up into the Temple to PRAY; the one a Pharifee, and the other a Publican.

12. I faft twice in the Week, I give Tithes of all that 1 poffefs.

13. And the Publican ftanding afar off, would not lift up fo much as his Eyes unto Heaven, but fmote upon his Breaft, faying, God be merciful to me a Sinner.

14. I tell you this Man went down to his Houfe, juftified rather than the other: for every one that EXALTETH himself, fhall be ABASED; and he that HUMBLETH himfelf, fhall be EXALTED.

Of the Ten Pieces.

Luke AND as they heard thefe Things, he added, and xix. II. fpake a Parable, because he was nigh to feru falem, and because they thought that the Kingdom of God fhould immediately appear.

12. He faid therefore, A certain Nobleman went into a far Country, to receive for himself a Kingdom, and to re

turn.

15. And it came to pafs, that (a) when he was returned, having received the Kingdom, then he commanded. thefe Servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the Money, that he might know how much every Man had gained by trading.

16. Then came the firft, faying, Lord, thy Pound hath gained ten Pounds.

17. And he said unto him, Well, thou good Servant : because

22. And he faith unto him, Out of thine own Mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked Servant. Thou kneweft that I was an auftere Man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not fow:

23. Wherefore then gaveft not thou my Money into the Bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with Ufury?

24. And he faid unto them that flood by, Take from him the Pound, and give it to him that hath ten Pounds.

faith the Lord, every Knee fhall 11. For it is written, As I live, bow to me, and every Tongue shall confefs to God.

12. So then every one of us fhall give ACCOUNT of himself to God.

2 Cor. v. 10. For we must all appear before the Judgment feat of Chrift, that every one may receive the Things done in his Body, according to that he has done, whether it be GOOD or BAD.

1 Pet. i. 17. And if we call on the Father, who without refpect of Perfons JUDGETH according to every Man's WORK, pafs the Time of your fojourning here in fear. ACCOUNT to him that is ready to Chap. iv. 5. Who fhall GIVE judge the Quick and the Dead."

Of the Labourers in the Vineyard.

Matt. FOR the Kingdom of Heaven, is like unto a Man XX. I. that is an Houfholder, which went out early in the Morning to hire Labourers into his Vineyard.

2. And when he had agreed with the Labourers for a Peny a Day, he fent them into his Vineyard.

3. And he went out about the third Hour, and faw others ftanding idle in the Market-place,

4. And faid unto them, Go ye alfo into the Vineyard, and whatsoever is right, I will give you. And they went

their way.

5. Again he went out about the fixth and ninth Hour, and did likewife.

6. And about the eleventh Hour he went out, and found others ftanding idle, and faith unto them, Why ftand ye here all the Day idle?

7. They fay unto him, Becaufe no Man hath hired us. He faith unto them, Go ye alfo into the Vineyard, and whatsoever is right, that fhall ye receive.

8. So when Even was come, the Lord of the Vineyard faith unto his Steward, Call the Labourers, and give them their Hire, beginning from the laft unto the firft.

9. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh Hour, they received every Man a Peny.

10. But when the first came, they fuppofed that they fhould have received more, and they likewife received every Man a Peny.

11. And when they had received it, they murmured against the good Man of the Houfe,

12. Saying, Thefe laft have wrought but one Hour, and thou haft made them equal unto us, which have born the Burden and Heat of the Day.

13. But he answered one of them, and faid, Friend, I do thee no wrong: Didft not thou agree with me for a Peny?

14. Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this laft, even as unto thee.

15. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine ewn? Is thine Eye evil, becaufe I am good?

16. So the last fhall be firft, and the first laft: for mamy be called, but few chofen.

Of the two Sons that were commanded to go into the Vineyard.

Matt. BUT what think you? A certain Man had two xxi. 28. Sons, and he came to the firft, and faid, Son, go work to-day in my Vineyard.

29. He answered and faid, I will not: but afterward he repented and went.

30. And he came to the fecond, and faid likewife. And he answered and faid, I go, Sir; and went not.

31. Whether of them twain did the Will of his Father? They fay unto him, The firft. Jefus faith unto them, Verily I fay unto you, That the Publicans and the Harlots go into the Kingdom of God before you.

32. For John came unto you in the way of Righteoufnefs, and ye believed him not: but the Publicans and the Harlots believed him. And ye, when ye had feen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

Of the Vineyard let out to Husbandmen.

Ver.33. Harable: There EAR another This Parable relates to the Rejection of the Jews for their Unbelief, and crucifying the Lord of Glory.

was a certain Houfholder which planted a (a)Vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a Wine-press in it, and built a Tower, and let it out to Husbandmen, and went into a far Country.

34. And when the Time of the Fruit drew near, he fent his Servants to the Hufbandmen, that they might receive the Fruits of it.

35. And the Husbandmen ook his Servants, and beat
