1861. Feb. 9, Formation of government at Montgomery, Alabama, comprising South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Afterward Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia joined. Missouri and Kentucky became disputed territory.
