OFFICERS TRAINING CORPS.

ABERDEEN UNIVERSITY CONTINGENT.
(Medical Unit.)

The Army Council having accepted the offer of the University Court to furnish a Contingent to the Senior Division Officers Training Corps, consisting of one section of a Field Ambulance, a Committee of Military Education in the University was formed in 1912. The Committee consists of, The Principal, Sir John Fleming, LL.D. (Vice-Chairman of the City of Aberdeen Territorial Force Association), the Rev. James Smith, V.D., M.A., B.D., and Mr. J. Scott Riddell, M.V.O., M.B., C.M., from the University Court; Professors Trail, Reid, and Shennan from the Senatus; and Captain George A. Williamson, M.A., M.D., and Captain John P. Kinloch, M.D., members ex officio. This Committee administers the finances of the Contingent.

The Contingent consists of (a) Matriculated Students of the University studying, or proceeding to study, medicine; and (b) Graduates or non-members of the University desirous of gaining the Certificates of Proficiency obtainable in the O.T.C; along with Honorary members nominated by the Committee.

Members are required to sign upon enrolment a contract of service for two years; and each member pays a deposit of 10s. which shall be returnable to him on the termination of his service, and on settlement of all outstanding claims against him. Members are enrolled at the beginning of each term, but members having no previous Territorial Force or Officers Training Corps Service should enrol at the opening of the Winter Session. The Rules of the Contingent may be consulted in the Orderly Room at any time.

The Honours gained by Members of the University during the war are as follows: KC.M.G.-1; C.B.-4; C.M.G.-8; C.V.O.-1; D.S.O.-24; Military Cross-493; Albert Medal-1; Distinguished Conduct Medal-1; Military Medal-2; Foreign Decorations-10; while 85 have been mentioned in despatches, and 12 others have been brought to the notice of the Secretary of State for War for valuable services rendered in connection with the war.

The Roll of the Fallen given below numbers 187. Six others are missing, and fourteen are prisoners of war.

In Memoriam.

The following is the list of graduates, alumni, and students who have fallen in the present war between August 1914 and August 1917. Where no year is added to a student's stage in the curriculum of his faculty 191314 is to be understood.

1914.

Medical Officer Thomas Peppé Fraser, H.M. Colonial Medical Service, West African Medical Staff, attached to troops on reconnaisance on the eastern frontier of Nigeria, where he was killed in action, 5 September, aged 35.
