HE GRAMMAR SCHOOL provides for Boys a complete course of study, both Elementary and Secondary, Classical and Modern.

The ancient traditions of the School as a Classical School and feeder of the University are preserved, while boys destined for Commercial pursuits receive thorough training in subjects likely to be of special use to them.

The School contains excellent Laboratories (Chemical and Physical), Art Room, Workshop, Botanical Garden, Gymnasium, Library and Reading-room.

The Lower School receives Boys of the Infant Stage and upwards to Standard V., inclusive.

The Modern School is well equipped for the teaching of Science and Art and Manual (Wood and Metal Work).

The Senior Classes are examined for the Intermediate and Leaving Certificates of the Scotch Education Department, which are accepted in place of Preliminary Examinations for the Universities, etc.

Promotions are made at the discretion of the Rector, advised by the

Masters.

Quarterly Reports are issued to Parents.

Physical Training in Drill and Gymnastics is given by competent Instructors.

The situation of the School is open and healthy, within ten minutes of the Railway Station. There is a Cricket field, and there are separate Playgrounds for the Senior, Lower, and Preparatory Departments.

The School is one of the Public Secondary Schools of Scotland, and is under the management of the School Board of the Burgh.

HE HIGH SCHOOL FOR GIRLS is Departments, a Junior, an Intermediate and a Secondary. The Curriculum in the Junior and Intermediate Departments embraces the ordinary branches of an English Education. Pupils may thereafter enter the Secondary or Higher Department, and receive advanced instruction in English Literature, Latin, Mathematics, French, German, Natural Science, Drawing and Painting, Artistic Needlework, Domestic Economy and Cookery.

The Course in the Secondary Department includes preparation for the "Leaving Certificate of the Scotch Education Department," and for the Entrance Examinations to the Universities.

Pupils that complete the Intermediate Course satisfactorily may remain for advanced instruction in one or more subjects of the Higher Course.

The School provides for the Musical Education of its Pupils. Instruction in Pianoforte and Violin, and in Voice Training is given under qualified Governesses and Professional Masters. Dancing is also taught.

The School is one of the Public Secondary Schools of Scotland, and is under the management of the School Board of the Burgh.
