Order my footsteps by thy word,
And make my heart sincere;
Let sin have no dominion, Lord,
But keep my conscience clear.

Make me to walk in thy commands,
'Tis a delightful road ;

Nor let my head, or heart, or hands,
Offend against my God.

GLORY to the Father give,

God in whom we move and live!

Children's prayers He deigns to hear,
Children's songs delight his ear.

Glory to the Son we bring,

Christ our Prophet, Priest, and King!
Children, raise your sweetest strain
To the Lamb, for He was slain.

Glory to the Holy Ghost;
Be this day a Pentecost!
Children's minds may He inspire,
Touch their tongues with holy fire.

Glory in the highest be

To the blessed Trinity,
For the Gospel from above,

For the word, that God is Love!

O KING of kings! thy blessing shed
On our anointed Sovereign's head;
And looking from thy throne in heaven,
Protect the crown Thyself hast given.
Her for thy sake may we obey,
Uphold her right, and love her sway;
Rememb'ring all the powers that be
Are ministers ordain'd of Thee.

L. M.

By her this favour'd nation bless,
To all her counsels give success;
In peace, in war, thine aid be seen;
Confirm her strength-God save the Queen.
And when all earthly thrones decay,
And earthly kingdoms fade away,
Grant her a nobler throne on high,
A crown of immortality.

Harvest.

FOUNTAIN of mercy, God of love,
How rich thy bounties are!

The rolling seasons, as they move,
Proclaim thy constant care.

C. M.

The spring's sweet influence, Lord, was thine;

The plants in beauty grew;

Thou gav'st refulgent suns to shine,

And mild refreshing dew.

125

These various mercies from above
Matur'd the swelling grain;
A kindly harvest crowns thy love,
And plenty fills the plain.

We own and bless thy gracious sway;
Thy promise still is sure;
Seed-time and harvest, night and day,
And cold and heat endure.

O! ne'er may our forgetful hearts
O'erlook thy bounteous care;

But what our Father's hand imparts
Still own in praise and prayer.

PRAISE to God, immortal praise,
For the love that crowns our days;
Bounteous source of every joy,
Let thy praise our tongues employ.

For the blessings of the field,
For the stores the gardens yield,
For the joy which harvests bring,
Grateful praises now we sing.

All that Spring with bounteous hand
Scatters o'er the smiling land;
All that fruitful Autumn pours
From her overflowing stores:

These, great God, to Thee we owe,
Source whence all our blessings flow;
And for these our souls shall raise
Grateful vows and solemn praise.

SEE, gracious God, before thy throne
Thy mourning people bend;
Upon thy sov'reign grace alone
Our humble hopes depend.

These awful judgments from thy hand
Thy dreadful power display;
Yet mercy spares this guilty land,
And still we live to pray.

O turn us, turn us, mighty Lord,
By thy constraining grace;

Then shall our hearts obey thy word,
And humbly seek thy face.

C. M.

Then, Lord, though threaten'd and dismay'd,
We shall not sink in fear;
Secure of never-failing aid,
If Thou, our God, be near.

DREAD Jehovah, God of nations,
Thron'd in power above the skies,
Let thy people's supplications
To thy mercy-seat arise:

Lo! with deep contrition turning,
Humbly at thy feet we bend;
See us fasting, praying, mourning,
Hear us, spare us, and defend.

Though our sins, our hearts confounding,
Loudly for thy vengeance call,
Thou hast mercy more abounding,
Jesus' blood can cleanse from all :

Pardon, Lord, our past transgression,
O'er us stretch thy saving hand;
Save thy people from oppression,
Guard thy Church, and bless our land.

Beginning and End of Year.

O GOD, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come;
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home:

Under the shadow of thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure ;
Sufficient is thine arm alone,
And our defence is sure.

Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth receiv'd her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.

A thousand ages in thy sight.
Are like an evening gone;

Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

O God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
And our eternal home.

C. M.
