He in the days of feeble flesh Pour'd out his cries and tears, And in his measure feels afresh What every member bears.
Then let our humble faith address His mercy and his power; We shall obtain deliv'ring grace In each distressing hour.
LORD of mercy and of might, Of mankind the Life and Light, Maker, Teacher infinite, Jesus, hear and save.
Mighty Monarch! Saviour mild! Humbled to a mortal child, Captive, beaten, bound, revil'd, Jesus, hear and save.
Thron'd above celestial things, Borne aloft on angels' wings,
Lord of lords, and King of kings, Jesus, hear and save.
Thou shalt yet return from high, Rob'd in might and majesty! Hear us, help us, when we cry, Jesus, hear and save.
O THOU, from whom all goodness flows,
I lift my heart to Thee;
In all my sorrows, conflicts, woes, O Lord, remember me.
When on my aching, burden'd heart My sins lie heavily,
Thy pardon grant, thy peace impart, In love remember me.
When trials sore obstruct my way, And ills I cannot flee,
O! let my strength be as my day, For good remember me.
If on my face, for thy lov'd Name, Shame and reproach shall be,
Then hail reproach, and welcome shame, If Thou remember me.
And when at last I sink in death, And meet thy just decree,
O Saviour! mark my failing breath, And still remember me.
O HELP us, Lord, each hour of need Thy heavenly succour give:
Help us in thought, and word, and deed, Each hour on earth we live.
Help us with humble faith to pray,
With holy joy to praise ;
And, walking in thy perfect way, To serve Thee all our days.
O help us, through the prayer of faith, More firmly to believe;
For still the more the servant hath, The more shall he receive.
O help us, Saviour, from on high ; We know no help but Thee : O help us so to live and die, As thine in heaven to be.
ONE there is above all others,
Well deserves the name of Friend;
His is love beyond a brother's, Costly, free, and without end: They who once his kindness prove, Find it everlasting love.
When He liv'd on earth abased,
Friend of sinners was his name;
Now above all glory raised,
He rejoices in the same: Still He calls them brethren, friends, And to all their wants attends.
O! for grace our hearts to soften ; Teach us, Lord, at length to love; We, alas, forget too often
What a Friend we have above: But when home our souls are brought, We will love Thee as we ought.
LAMB of God, the Father's Word, Christ the Everlasting Lord,
Christ the Virgin's holy Son, Saviour of a world undone ;
Thou that art the door of heaven, Living bread in mercy given, Brightness of the Father's face, Everlasting Prince of Peace;
King and Lord of holy hearts, Fount of love that ne'er departs, Source of life, and brightest day, Purest truth, and surest way;
Sav'd by Thee, and heal'd, and blest, Jesu, lead us to thy rest: And upon our heavenward way All Thyself to us display.
O GOD, my heart is fix'd, 'tis bent, Its thankful tribute to present; And with my heart my voice I'll raise To Thee, my God, in songs of praise.
Thy praises, Lord, I will resound To all the list'ning nations round; Thy mercy highest heaven transcends, Thy truth beyond the clouds extends.
Be Thou, O God, exalted high; And, as thy glory fills the sky, So let it be on earth displayed, Till Thou art here, as there, obeyed.
COME, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing thy grace; Streams of mercy never ceasing Call for songs of loudest praise : Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wand'ring from the fold of God; He, to save my soul from danger, Freely gave his precious blood. O! to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrain'd to be; Let that grace break every fetter
That withholds my heart from Thee: Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it;
Prone to leave the God I love; Saviour, take my heart and seal it, Seal it for thy courts above!
SOON may the last glad song arise Through all the millions of the skies; That song of triumph, which records That all the earth is now the Lord's.
Let thrones, and powers, and kingdoms be Obedient, mighty God, to Thee; And over land, and stream, and main, Wave Thou the sceptre of thy reign!
Soon may the joyful anthem swell, And host to host the triumph tell; That not one rebel heart remains, But over all the Saviour reigns.
