So shall his presence bless our souls,
And shed a joyful light;

That hallow'd morn shall chase away
The sorrows of the night.

LOVE divine, all love excelling,

Joy of heaven, to earth come down ;
Fix in us thy humble dwelling,
All thy faithful mercies crown:
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
Pure unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with thy salvation,
Enter every waiting heart.

Come, Almighty to deliver,

Let us all thy grace receive;
Come, abide in us, and never,

Never more thy temples leave:
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve Thee, as thy hosts above;
Pray, and praise Thee, without ceasing,
Glory in thy perfect love.

Finish, then, thy great salvation,
Pure and spotless may we be;
Let us see the new creation,
Perfectly restor❜d in Thee :
Chang'd from glory into glory,

Till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

HOW long, O Lord our Saviour,
Wilt Thou remain away?
Our hearts are growing weary
Of thy so long delay;

O! when shall come the moment,
When, brighter far than morn,
The sunshine of thy glory
Shall on thy people dawn?

How long, O heavenly Bridegroom,
How long wilt Thou delay?
And yet how few are grieving
That Thou dost absent stay:
The very Bride her portion
And calling hath forgot;
And seeks for ease and glory,
Where Thou, her Lord, art not.

O wake thy slumb'ring virgins,
Send forth the solemn cry ;
Let all the saints repeat it,

"The Bridegroom draweth nigh:"
May all our lamps be burning,
Our loins well-girded be;
Each longing heart preparing
With joy thy face to see.

HOSANNA to the living Lord!
Hosanna to th' Incarnate Word!
To Christ, Creator, Saviour, King,
Let earth, let heaven, Hosanna sing!

L. M.

O Saviour, with protecting care
Return to this thy house of prayer;
Assembled in thy sacred Name,
Here we thy parting promise claim.

But chiefest in our cleansed breast,
Eternal! bid thy Spirit rest,
And make our secret soul to be
A temple pure, and worthy Thee.

So, in the last and dreadful day,
When earth and heaven shall melt away,
Thy flock, redeem'd from sinful stain,
Shall swell the sound of praise again.

HARK! the song of jubilee,

Loud as mighty thunder's roar, Or the fulness of the sea,

When it breaks upon the shore :

Hallelujah! for the Lord

God omnipotent shall reign; Hallelujah! let the word

Echo round the earth and main.

He shall reign from pole to pole,
Ruling with unbounded sway;
He shall reign, when like a scroll

Yonder heavens have past away.

Then the end; beneath His rod
Man's last enemy shall fall:
Hallelujah! Christ in God,
God in Christ, is all in all.

hen shrivelling like a parched scroll,
flaming heavens together roll;
en louder yet, and yet more dread,
lls the high trump that wakes the dead.

on that day, that wrathful day,
en man to judgment wakes from clay,
Thou, O Christ! the sinner's stay,
igh heaven and earth shall pass away.

FAT God, what do I see and hear! The end of things created!

Judge of all men doth appear, On clouds of glory seated;

trumpet sounds, the graves restore dead which they contain'd before : Prepare, my soul, to meet Him.

dead in Christ shall first arise, At the last trumpet's sounding, meet their Saviour in the skies, With joy his throne surrounding ; gloomy fears their souls dismay, presence sheds eternal day On those prepar'd to meet Him.

reat God, to Thee our prayers we pour,

In deep abasement bending;
-hield us in that last dread hour,
Thy wondrous love extending;
y we, in this our trial day,
ith wakeful hearts thy word obey,
And thus prepare to meet Him.
