PREFACE.

Ir is so usual a thing to usher every work to public notice by a Preface, that we hardly feel at liberty to dispense with one in the present instance.

We have to thank the public for a support which emboldens us to enlarge our Magazine, and elevate its character. It will be, from January next, published at the price of one shilling and sixpence, and we have little doubt that our success in the enlarged form will more than compensate the increased expences and labour.

We have to thank our contributors for their able and interesting communications, and to entreat their continued aid during the ensuing year. It is with much pleasure that we announce a large accession of strength in this department.
