ground: He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.

3 He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief and as one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.

4 Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and Jehovah hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all!

7 He was oppressed, yet He humbled himself and opened not His mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before her shearers is dumb; yea, He opened not His mouth.

8 By oppression and judgment He was taken away; and as for His generation, who among them considered that He was cut off out of the land of the living, for the transgression of My people to whom the stroke was due?

9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in His death; altho He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth.

10 Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; He hath put Him to grief: when Thou shalt make His soul a guilt offer

ing, He shall see His seed, he shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in His hand.

11 He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied; by His knowledge shall my Righteous Servant justify many, and He shall bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore will I divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He poured out His soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

4 Behold, ye fast for strife and contention, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye fast not this day so as to make your voice to be heard on high!

5 Is such the fast that I have chosen? The day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a rush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?

6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy healing shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of Jehovah shall be thy rearward.

9 Then shalt thou call, and Jehovah shall answer; thou shalt cry, and He shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking wickedly;

10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in darkness, and thine obscurity be as the noonday:

11 And Jehovah shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in dry places, and make strong thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

3 Thou shalt also be a crown of beauty in the hand of Jehovah, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah, and thy land Beulah for Jehovah delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee; and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over

thee.

6 I have set watchmen upon Thy walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day nor night:

7 Ye that are Jehovah's remembrancers, take ye no rest, and give Him no rest, till He establish, and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the Earth.

8 The Lord hath sworn by His right hand, and by the arm of His strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies, and strangers. shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast labored:

9 But they that have garnered it shall eat it, and praise Jehovah; and they that have gathered it shall drink it in the courts of My sanctuary.

10 Go thro, go thro the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the high way; gather out the stones; lift up an ensign for the peoples.

11 Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the Earth, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salva

tion cometh; behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompence before Him.

12 And they shall call them The holy people, The redeemed of the Lord: and thou shalt be called Sought out, A city not forsaken.

JEREMIAH, 31:31-37.

EHOLD, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah :

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them. out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, altho I was a husband unto them, saith Jehovah :

33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put My law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people:

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah: for they shall all know Me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Jehovah; for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.

35 Thus saith Jehovah, which giveth the Sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the Moon and of the stars for a light by night, which stirreth up the sea, that the waves thereof roar; Jehovah of hosts is his name:

36 If these ordinances depart from before Me, saith Jehovah, then the seed

of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before Me for ever.

37 Thus saith Jehovah: If Heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the Earth searched out beneath, then will I also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith Jehovah.

MICAH, 5:2-5.

HOU, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the families of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

3 Therefore will He give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the residue of His brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

4 And He shall stand, and shall feed His flock in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of JEHOVAH His God: and they shall abide; for now shall He be great unto the ends of the Earth.

25 Jehovah is good unto them that wait for Him,to the soul that seeketh Him. 26 It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Jehovah.

27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

28 Let him sit alone and keep silence, because He hath laid it upon him.

29 Let him put his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

30 Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him; let him be filled full with reproach.

31 For Jehovah will not cast off for

ever.

32 For tho He cause grief, yet will He have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies.

33 For He doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.

34 To crush under foot all the prisoners of the Earth,

35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High,

36 To subvert a man in his cause, Jehovah approveth not.

37 Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

38 Out of the mouth of the Most High cometh there not evil and good?

39 Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah.

41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

42 We have transgressed and have rebelled; Thou hast not pardoned.

43 Thou hast covered with anger and pursued us; Thou hast slain, Thou hast not pitied.

44 Thou hast covered Thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass thro.

45 Thou hast made us the off scouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples. 46 All our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us.

47 Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and destruction.

48 Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

49 Mine eye poureth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,

50 Till Jehovah look down, and behold from heaven.

51 Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.

52 They have chased me sore like a bird, that are mine enemies without cause. 53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and have cast a stone upon me,

54 Waters flowed over mine head; I said, I am cut off.

55 I called upon Thy name, O Jehovah, out of the lowest dungeon.

56 Thou heardest my voice; hide not Thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

57 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon Thee: Thou saidst, Fear not.

58 O JEHOVAH, THOU HAST PLEADED THE CAUSES OF MY SOUL; THOU HAST REDEEMED MY LIFE.

Bthis is the kingdom of Heaven.

LESSÉD are the poor in spirit; For

4 Blessed are they that mourn; For they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek; For they shall inherit the Earth.

6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness; For they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful; For they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart; For they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers; For they shall be called sons of God.

10 Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness' sake; For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad; For great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

LUKE, 1:46—55.

Y soul doth magnify the Lord, And ng spirit hath rejoiced in God my

Saviour.

48 For He hath looked upon the low estate of His handmaiden; For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blesséd.

49 For He that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is His

name.

50 And His mercy is, unto generations and generations, On them that fear Him.

51 He hath shewed strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart.

52 He hath put down princes from their thrones, And hath exalted them of low degree.

53 The hungry He hath filled with good things; And the rich He hath sent empty away.

54 He hath holpen Israel His servant, That He might remember mercy

55 (As He spake unto our fathers) Toward Abraham and his seed for ever.

LUKE, 1:68-79.

BLESSED be the Lord, visited and

wrought redemption for His people.

69 And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David

70 (As he spake by the mouth of His holy prophets which have been since the world began),

71 Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us ;

72 To shew mercy toward our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant;

73 The oath which He sware unto Abraham our father,

74 To grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve Him without fear,
