LESSONS FOR THE DAY.

SUNDAY.

THIS is the day that the LORD hath made.
R. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Antiphon. And God said, Let there be light.
V. O Thou, Who didst on this day create the
Light to enlighten the world;

R. Glory be to Thee, O LORD.

V. JESUS said, I am the Light of the world. R. That was the true Light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

:

Glory be to the FATHER, and to the Son and to the HOLY GHOST;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Antiphon. And God said, Let there be light. And there was light.

Or, Antiphon. CHRIST is risen from the dead. V. O Thou, Who didst on this day bring again from the dead our LORD JESUS CHRIST ; R. Glory be to Thee, O LORD.

B

V. O by Thy resurrection raise us up to newness of life.

R. Perfect us in every good work to do Thy will. Glory be to the FATHER, and to the Son and to the HOLY GHOST;

:

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Antiphon. CHRIST is risen from the dead and become the first fruits of them that slept.

Or, Antiphon. Hereby we know that He abideth in us.

V. O Thou, Who didst this day send down Thy HOLY SPIRIT;

R. Glory be to Thee, O LORD.

V. Withdraw not Thou Thy gift, O LORD, from us.

R. But daily renew it in us who call upon

Thee.

:

Glory be to the FATHER, and to the Son and to the HOLY GHOST;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Antiphon. Hereby we know that He abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us.

MONDAY.

My voice shalt Thou hear betimes, O LORD. R. Early in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up.

Antiphon. By the word of the LORD were the heavens made.

V. O Thou, Who didst on this day create the firmament of heaven, the heavens and the heaven of heavens;

R. Glory be to Thee, O LORD.

V. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto Thy Name, O Thou Most Highest :

R. To tell of Thy loving kindness early in the morning, and of Thy truth in the night season, Glory be to the FATHER, and to the SON: and to the HOLY GHOST;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Antiphon. By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, and all the hosts of them by the breath of His mouth.

TUESDAY.

V. Our help is in the name of the LORD;
R. Who made heaven and earth.

Antiphon. The sea is His, and He made it. O Thou, Who didst on the third day gather together the waters and make the dry land appear: Who didst bid the grass bring forth his seed and the tree his fruit;

R. Glory be to Thee, O LORD.

Antiphon. The sea is His, and He made it.

His hands prepared the dry land.

V. Thou art worthy, O LORD, to receive honour and glory and power.

R. For Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.

:

Glory be to the FATHER, and to the Son and to the HOLY GHOST;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Antiphon. The sea is His, and He made it, and His hands have prepared the dry land.

WEDNESDAY.

V. The LORD's Name be praised;

R. From the rising up of the sun unto the going down thereof.

Antiphon. The day is Thine and the night is Thine.

O Thou, Who didst as on this day make the lights of the world to rule the day and the night, for signs and for seasons, and to give light upon the earth;

R. Glory be to Thee, O LORD.

V. He appointed the moon for certain seasons. R. And the sun knoweth his going down. Glory be to the FATHER, and to the Son and to the HOLY GHOST;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Antiphon. The day is Thine and the night is Thine.

Thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

R. Early will I seek Thee.

Antiphon. Set up Thyself, O GOD, above the heavens.

V. Blessed art Thou, O LORD JESUS, Who didst as on this day ascend into heaven.

R. He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the FATHER ALMIGHTY.

V. By Thy ascension, O LORD, draw us after Thee:

R. That we savour of what is above, not of things of the earth.

Glory be to the FATHER, and to the Son and to the HOLY GHOST;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Antiphon. Set up Thyself, O LORD, above the heavens, and Thy glory above all the earth.

FRIDAY.

O LORD, show Thy mercy upon us.

And grant us Thy salvation.
