FOR

THE EVENING.

Watch ye, therefore, for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning.

ST. MARK, Xiii. 35.

JESUS went up into a mountain apart to pray and when the evening was come, He was there alone.

ST. MATT. xiv. 23.

Evening.

On entering the bedroom, say,

MAY the Lord Almighty grant me a quiet night, and a Christian end. Amen.

Vouchsafe, O Lord, to keep me this night

without sin.

Evening Prayers.

Bow the head, and say,

IN the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Blessed be the Name of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, now and for evermore. Amen.

Kneel down, and say,

O God, make clean our hearts within us: and take not Thy Holy Spirit from us. Let my prayer be set forth in Thy sight as the incense: and let the lifting up of my hands be an evening sacrifice.

Ps. cxli. 2.

Grant me, of Thy mercy, true repentance, and forgive me all the sins, negligences, and ignorances, which I have this day been guilty of, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

May the Almighty and Merciful Lord grant me and His whole Church pardon, absolution, and remission of all our sins, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OUR FATHER, which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Great Ruler of the day and night,
On our darkness cast Thy light,
And let Thy passion pardon win
For what we have offended in
Thought, or word, or deed of sin.
Honour, Lord, to Thee be done,
O Thou blessed Virgin's Son,
With the Father and the Spirit,
As is Thine eternal merit

Ever and ever to inherit.

Amen.

Pray God bless my dear father and mother, my brothers, M. or N., and sisters, M. or N., and all my dear relations, M. or N., and friends, M. or N., and all for whom I ought to pray. Watch over those who are living, and remember those who are dead, for Jesus Christ's sake. In life or death, in grief or joy, To them Thy peace be given;

May guardian angels, ever nigh,

Direct their steps to heaven. Amen.
