PREFACE. In this book I have attempted to apply to Algebra the plan which has been found useful in my "Arithmetic":-the rules are stated briefly, so as not to be a substitute for, but to supplement, the work of the teacher; specimen examples are given, explanations being added where they seem necessary; and numerous examples for the student's own work are arranged, it is hoped, in such a manner as to afford him all the practice he will need. The indication of any difficulties or errors will be very thankfully received. T. D. |
