LIBRARY OF ENTERTAINING KNOWLEDGE lished under the superintendence of the British Society for the diffusion of use ful Knowledge, and reprinted page for page with the London edition.

This work is intended "to combine the objects of instruction and amusement, comprising as much entertaining matter as can be given along with useful knowledge, and as much useful kno ́vledge as can be conveyed in an amusing form."

The committee of the society (of which Mr. Brougham is chairman) observe, that in this work the main object of the society-that of conveying use ful information, will be steadily advanced. They would present the most attractive parts of knowledge in an agreeable manner; affording delight as well as improvement, and a grateful relaxation without dissipating the mind, or di verting it from more arduous pursuits.

Among the subjects first,treated of in the Library of Entertaining Knowledge, are the following:
