123. JERUSALEM, my happy home, When shall our labours have an end When shall our eyes thy heaven-built walls Thy bulwarks with salvation strong, And streets of shining gold? Thine is that glorious world of light, Above the starry sky, Where saints and angels evermore There happier bowers than Eden's bloom, Blest home! through rude and stormy seas, Apostles, martyrs, prophets there Jerusalem, our happy home, Our souls still long for thee; Then shall our labours have an end, When we thy joys shall see. 124. THOU heavenly new Jerusalem, O bride, betrothed in happy hour, Glittering with pearls thy portals stand, Who, kindled by CHRIST's love, will dare 125. JERUSALEM, thou city Of everlasting halls, Thrice blessed are the people Who dwell within thy walls! Thou art the golden mansion Where saints for ever sing; The seat of GOD's own chosen, The palace of the King. They stand, those halls of Zion, And many a martyr throng ; The Prince is ever in them, The light is aye serene; The pastures of the blessed Are decked in glorious sheen. There is the throne of David, And there, from toil releas'd The shout of them that triumph, The song of them that feast; And they, beneath their Leader, Who conquer'd in the fight, For ever and for ever Are clad in robes of white. Jerusalem the glorious! Which longing hearts expect! O realm and home of life! 126. BLESSED city, heavenly Salem, From celestial realms descending, To His presence decked with jewels, Bright with pearls her portal glitters; It is open evermore; And by virtue of His merits Thither faithful souls may soar, Who for CHRIST's dear Name in this world Pain and tribulation bore. |
