ON THE NAME OF CHRISTIAN.

ACTS 11. 26.

And the disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

WE are told, that in the time of Enoch "men began to call upon the name of the Lord;" (Gen. 4. 26.) or rather, as we find it in the margin of our Bibles, began "to call themselves by the name of the Lord." That is to say, the religious part of mankind, by way of distinction from such as Cain and his followers, took to themselves a name from their Lord, Jehovah. Thus also were the disciples of Christ called, after their Master, Christians. And in the latter case there can be no doubt, any
