Ilouse that the Ordinary Revenue of India
for the year ending the 31st day of March
1878 was £51,795,866; the Revenue from
Productive Public Works, including the Net
Traffic Receipts from Guaranteed Compa-
nies, was £7,173,435, making the total Re-
venue of India for that year £58,969,301;
that the Ordinary Expenditure in India and
in England, including Charges for the Collec-
tion of the Revenue, for Ordinary Public
Works, and for Interest on Debt exclusive
of that for Productive Public Works, was
£55,147,832; the Expenditure on Productive
Public Works (Working Expenses and In-
terest), including the payments to Guaran-
teed Companies for Interest and Surplus
Profits, was £7,364,556, making a total
Charge for that year of £62,512,388; that
there was an excess of Expenditure over In-
come in that year amounting to £3,543,087;
and that the Capital Expenditure on Pro-
ductive Public Works in the same year was
£4,791,052
