raise the most barbarous peoples from their debased state, making them partakers of a Divine nature, by which they become the subjects of a moral transformation-to be seen not only in the grace which enables them to live as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, but in their personal appearance, homes, and habits.

We would combine in our thoughts and efforts the interest of both worlds. Whilst cherishing a zealous regard for the spread of the gospel abroad, we would put forth corresponding efforts for home, and rejoice in all that is being done for the amelioration of the condition of mankind at large, and their advancement in knowledge. We would prove that whilst we are Christians we are citizens also, interested in everything that advances the well-being and happiness of our race.
