Painting. Mr. HARRY TOWNEND, Lecturer. Two Courses will be delivered during the Winter Session, each consisting of fifteen lectures. In one course the history of British Painting will be traced from the time of Hogarth to the end of the nineteenth century, and in the other, contemporary painting will be discussed. Both subjects will be considered in relation to the art of other European countries, and to the literary and social movements of the period. Technical developments, as well as the expression of artistic ideas, will have attention, and will be illustrated by means of pictures, engravings, photographs and lanternslides. An examination will be conducted at the close of each course. APPENDIX M. MEMBERS OF THE UNIVERSITY ON NAVAL AND MILITARY SERVICE, 1914-1919.
