REMARKS.

I would gladly have included the records of Capt. Jn. J. Philbrook of Ipswich (descended from the family in Vinalhaven) and of a hundred others, if they had been furnished me. But I cannot manufacture any records. I can only copy and publish such as are given me. If the records sent me are incorrect, I do not often have any means of detecting the errors. It is not strange that records of a family, by different persons sometimes disagree, and it is impossible for me to decide which is correct. Persons finding errors in these pages are requested to send me the corrections, that they may be printed in a supplement, if one is ever called for. I will also carefully preserve for the same purpose any additions which may be sent to me.
