Reigate Union.-Foreign of Reigate.

An Order of the Poor Law Board to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the part of the parish of Reigate termed the Foreign of Reigate, in the county of Surrey, and to all others whom it may concern, dated the 24th day of June, 1856, directs that so much of the Act 13th and 14th Vict., c. 57, as relates to the appointment of a vestry clerk shall forthwith be applied to and be put in force within the said part of the parish of Reigate.

THE Queen has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting the dignity of a Knight of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto Valentine Fleming, Esq., Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

The Queen has also been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting the dignity of a Knight of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto Dominick Daly, Esq., Lieutenant-Governor of Prince Edward Island.

The Queen has also been pleased to present the Reverend Francis Hole, junior, Master of Arts, to the vicarage of Broad Hempston, in the county of Devon, and diocese of Exeter, void by the death of the Reverend John Pitman.

The Queen has also been pleased to present the Reverend John Adam Macfarlane to the church and parish of Kinlochbervie, in the presbytery of Tongue, and county of Sutherland, vacant by the death of the Reverend Robert Clarke.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Joseph Martindale Harrison, Gent., to be Lieutenant in the Artillery Company of London, for the term of five years from the date hereof.

This day the Lords being met a message was sent to the Honourable House of Commons by the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, acquainting them, that The Lords, authorized by virtue of a Commission under the Great Seal, signed by Her Majesty, for declaring Her Royal Assent to several Acts agreed upon by both Houses, do desire the immediate attendance of the Honourable House in the House of Peers to hear the Commission read; and the Commons being come thither, the said Commission, empowering the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, and several other Lords therein named, to declare and notify the Royal Assent to the said Acts, was read accordingly, and the Royal Assent given to

An Act to grant allowances of excise duty on malt in stock, to alter and regulate certain drawbacks and allowances in respect of malt duty, to repeal and re-impose the excise duty on sugar used in brewing beer, and to amend the law relating to malt roasters.

An Act to continue the Act for extending for

a limited time the provision for abatement of income tax in respect of insurance on lives.

An Act to authorize the West India Relief Commissioners to grant further time for the repayment of moneys advanced by them in certain

cases.

An Act to amend the Act for transferring to counties in Ireland certain works constructed wholly or in part with the public money.
