Wet a lot of the India-rubber sheets, and wring them well out, so that only a slight dampness remains (they must by no means be left wet, only slightly damp); put one of the damp India-rubber sheets in the copying-book, and on that place a dry sheet of the copying-book, and upon this the written letter, and repeat this operation as many times as you have letters to be copied. One sheet may be used to copy two letters, by placing one above, the other below it. The India-rubber sheets, if dampened in the morning and placed between tin, will remain damp all day long, and may be used four or five times without loosing their dampness.
