tistics of the World, though dated November, Publishers' Board of Trade,

was purposely withheld from the market on account of the holiday trade, having been delayed beyond expectation by the typographical difficulties caused by a total rearrangement of the Tables. We understand that revised editions will hereafter be published regularly in April and October.

It is yet too early in the year to give general information as to the programme for the spring season. There is however no great promise of original American books, most of those of which we have so far heard being republications.

THE second volume of Vice-President Wilson's "History of the Rise and Fail of the Slave Power in the United States" is approaching publication in book form at the Osgoods. The Independent has been publishing the work as a serial.

Now is the day of reckoning. We trust the balance sheets will all show on the right side. But January is apt to be the "blue Monday" of the book trade.
