4 Almighty God, to Thee
Be endless honour done,
The power and Godhead one:
There faith prevails, and love adores. 56
C. M. 1 God be glory, peace on earth,
Good-will to mortals shewn !
We worship Thee alone.
That fills our souls with light;
And Father of all might !
That tak'st our sins away,
And hear us when we pray !
Whom heaven and earth adore,
Son of God goes
forth to war,
Who follows in His train ?
2 Who best can drink His
He follows in His train !
Could pierce beyond the grave;
And called on Him to save.
On whom the Spirit came ;
And mocked the cross and flame. 5 A noble army—men and boys,
The matron and the maid,
In robes of light arrayed.
Through peril, toil, and pain :
To follow in their train !
OW bright these glorious spirits shine!
How came they to the blissful seats
Of everlasting day?
Who came to realms of light,
Those robes which shine so bright.
3 Now with triumphal palms they stand
Before the throne on high,
The glories of the sky.
Shall o'er them still preside,
And all their footsteps guide.
Where living streams appear;
Shall wipe off every tear.
1 TOR all Thy saints, O Lord,
Who strove in Thee to live,
Our grateful hymn receive.
Accept our thankful cry,
And strove in Thee to die.
With Thee their Lord in view,
To suffer and to do.
And humbly beg that we
And live and die in Thee.
EMBER WEEK. 60 1 POUR
UR out Thy Spirit from on high,
Lord, Thine appointed servants bless :
And clothe Thy priests with righteousness. 2 Wisdom, and zeal, and faith impart,
Firmness with meekness from above,
And love the souls whom Thou dost love: 3 To watch, and pray, and never faint,
By day and night strict guard to keep,
Protect Thy lambs, and feed Thy sheep. 4 Then, when their work is finished here,
Let them in hope their charge resign ;
O God, may they and we be Thine!
Christ crucified to own,
And stamp thee His alone.
To glory in His Name,
His glory and His shame.
3 In token that thou shalt not flinch
Christ's conflict to maintain,
Firm at thy post remain :
The path He travelled by,
And sit with Him on high : 5 Thus outwardly and visibly,
We seal thee for His own;
Hereafter share His crown!
Y God, and is Thy table spread,
Thither be all Thy children led,
And let them all Thy sweetness know. 2 Hail, sacred feast, which Jesus makes,
Communion of His flesh and blood !
That sacred stream, that heavenly food. 3 O let Thy table honoured be,
And furnished well with joyful guests !
Who here its sacred pledges tastes !
