The constitution at present in force in this state is that of 1792.

1776.

1778.

Convention. In United States Charters and Constitutions, Part II, p. 1280, it appears that a convention met at Concord, June 10, 1778, and framed a constitution which was submitted to the people in their town meetings in 1779, and rejected.

1781.

Address of the convention for framing a new constitution, to the inhabitants of [New Hampshire. Contains constitution, p. 17]. 63 p. 8°. Portsmouth and Exeter, 1781.

Constitution; a copy of this constitution is contained in United States Charters and Constitutions, Part II, p. 1280, where it appears that a convention met at Exeter, June 12, 1781, and framed a constitution, which was submitted to the people for approval or amendments. So numerous and conflicting were the amendments and opinions that the convention did not complete its labors until Oct. 31, 1783. The constitution thus discussed, amended, and approved by the people in their town meetings, was inaugurated June 2, 1784.

(Ratification of United States Constitution.)

Journal of proceedings of convention which adopted the Federal constitution. Accompanying the foregoing is a copy certified by the secretary of state of the United States of the "ratification of the constitution of the United States, on the part of the state of New Hampshire," by the convention of delegates, June 21, 1788. [The whole of this volume is in pen and ink MS., the "journal" being quarto and the "ratification" being folio, all being bound in large folio.]

Constitution Amendments.1 In Manual of constitution, by James S. Colby, Concord, 1902, p. 47, it appears that amendments to the constitution of 1792 have been ratified as follows: Part II, secs. 14, 20, 42 ratified, 1852. Part II, secs. 3, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31, 33, 37, 42, 46, 60, 66, 73, 77 were ratified, 1877. Five amendments were ratified Apr. 2, 1889. Part II, Art. 6 and Art. 47 were amended and ratified in 1903.
