Simple, teacheable, and mild,
Like unto a little child;

Pleased with all the Lord provides-
Weaned from all the world besides.

Father, fix my soul on Thee;
Every evil let me flee;

Nothing want-beneath, above,
Happy in a Father's love.

HYMN XXXVII.

"Young men and maidens, old men and children, praise the name of the Lord."-PSALM CXLVIII.

All people that on earth do dwell,

Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell,
Come ye before Him and rejoice.

The Lord, ye know, is God indeed,
Without our aid He did us make;
We are His flock, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.

O enter then His gates with praise;
Approach with joy His courts unto :
Praise, laud, and bless His name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

For, why? the Lord our God is good,
His mercy is for ever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.

HYMN XXXVIII.

"In the midst of the Church will I sing praise unto Thee." HEB. 11. 12.

Before Jehovah's awful throne
Ye nations bow with sacred joy;
Know that the Lord is God alone,
He can create, and He destroy.

His sovereign power, without our aid,
Made us of clay, and formed us men;
And when like wandering sheep we strayed,
He brought us to His fold again.

We'll crowd Thy gates with thankful songs,
High as the heavens our voices raise,
And earth with her ten thousand tongues,
Shall fill Thy courts with sounding praise.

Wide as the world is Thy command,
Vast as eternity Thy love;

Firm as a rock Thy truth shall stand,
When rolling years shall cease to move.

HYMN XXXIX.

"His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of His praise."-HABAK. III. 3.

My soul, praise the Lord, speak good of His name;
O Lord our great God, how dost Thou appear!
So passing in glory that great is Thy fame;

Honour and majesty in Thee shine most clear.

With light, as a robe, Thou hast Thyself clad,
Whereby all the earth Thy greatness may see;
The heavens in such sort Thou also has spread,
That they to a curtain compared may be.

His chamber-beams lie in the clouds full sure,
Which as His chariots are made Him to bear:
And there with much swiftness His course doth endure,
Upon the wings riding of winds in the air.

By angels in heaven of every degree,

And saints upon earth all praise be addrest, To God in Three Persons, one God ever blest, As it hath been, now is, and always shall be.

HYMN XL.

'My tongue shall speak of Thy praise all the day long.”—
PSALM XXXV. 28.

From all that dwell below the skies
Let the Creator's praise arise;
Let the Redeemer's name be sung
Through every land, by every tongue!

Eternal are Thy mercies, Lord,

Eternal truth attends Thy word,
Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore
Till suns shall rise and set no more.

HYMN XLI.

"It is a good thing to sing praises unto my God."-PSALM CXLVII. 1.

Praise the Lord! ye heavens adore Him;
Praise, Him, angels in the height;
Sun and moon, rejoice before Him;
Praise Him, all ye stars and light:
Praise the Lord! for He hath spoken:
Worlds His mighty voice obeyed;
Laws that never shall be broken
For the guidance he hath made.

Praise the Lord! for He is glorious ;
Never shall His promise fail;
God hath made His Saints victorious,
Sin and death shall not prevail;
Praise the God of our salvation;
Hosts on high His power proclaim;
Heaven and earth and all creation
Laud and magnify His name!

HYMN XLII.

"And one cried unto another and said, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts."-ISAIAH VI. 3.

O loud are the strains
Of the angels of light,
Who praise Him that reigns
In glory and might;
May we, too, combining

Our own feeble lays,
Now please Him by joining
Their chorus of praise!

Blest spirits of light,

How fair your abode;
Ye stand in the highest
Before our great God:
For evermore sharing
His counsels of love,
His people preparing
For regions above.
