"There are Three that bear record in heaven."-1 JOHN V. 7.
Oh, Thou unbound by time or space, Incomprehensible, Unknown,— Even to Faith's uplifted gaze,— Save through the Spirit and the Son.
And Thou that from Thy bright abode, To us in mortal weakness shown, Did'st graft the manhood into God,— Eternal, co-eternal Son!
And Thou Whose unction from on high By comfort light and love is known, Who, with the Parent Deity,
O Holy Ghost, art ever one!
Great First and Last! Thy blessing give! And grant us faith, Thy gift alone, To love and praise Thee while we live, And do whate'er thou would'st have done.
"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts."-ISAIAH VI. 3.
Father of heaven! Whose love profound A ransom for our souls hath found; Before Thy throne we sinners bend, To us Thy pard'ning love extend.
Almighty Son! Incarnate Word ! Our Prophet, Priest, Redeemer, Lord! Before Thy Throne we sinners bend; To us Thy saving grace extend.
Eternal Spirit! by Whose breath The soul is raised from sin and death, Before Thy Throne we sinners bend; To us Thy quick'ning power extend.
Jehovah! Father, Spirit, Son; Mysterious Godhead! Three in One! Before Thy throne we sinners bend; Grace, pardon, life to us extend!
"Through Him we have access by one Spirit unto the Father." EPH. II. 18.
To God the Father raise Hymns of adoring love, For all our comforts here, And all our hopes above;
He sent His own eternal Son To die for sins that man had done.
To God the Son belongs Immortal glory too,
Who saved us by His Blood From everlasting woe:
And now He lives, and now He reigns, And sees the fruit of all his pains.
To God the Spirit praise, And endless worship give, Whose new creating power
Makes the dead soul to live:
His work completes the great design, And fills the soul with joy divine.
Almighty God! to Thee
Be endless honours done,
The undivided Three,
The great mysterious One:
With all her powers where reason fails, There love adores and faith prevails.
"Whatsoever thy hand findeth thee to do, do it with all thy might."-ECCLES. IX. 10.
The times and seasons, mighty Lord, In order due fulfil Thy word,
Thus marking out the little span Allotted here to mortal man.
And now the appointed hour is come. Farewell awhile to joys of home! Let each in his appointed place Renew the Christian Scholar's race.
Be with us, Lord, we humbly pray, In all we think, or do, or say; In going out, in coming in, O guard us from the power of sin.
With hearty zeal our hearts inflame To do our all in Jesu's name; Direct us, lest we step aside To falsehood, sloth, or selfish pride.
To Thee we dedicate our powers, Thine is the gift, the work is ours; Help us to work while yet 'tis day, And tread with Thee our heavenward way.
So when the work of life is o'er,When earthly things delight no more,In Thee, our God, supremely blest, We'll lay us down and sink to rest.
