SOMETHING NEW IN VALENTINES.

L. PRANG & Co. beg to inform the trade that they have nearly ready a fine assortment of Valentine Cards, which they believe will form a new and attractive feature in the Valentine trade the present season.

The great popularity which Prang's Christmas, New Year's, and Birthday cards have attained, both in this country and in Europe, has been one of the most striking features in the holiday trade the past season. The beauty of the designs and the excellence of their execution have everywhere called forth the warmest praise, and their publication has been regarded as a new step in the popularizing of art, and has opened an entirely new branch of trade by simply bringing really fine artistic work, applied to popular subjects, within the reach of all.

L. Prang & Co. believing that the same taste and skill, which have produced such popular holiday cards, might be applied to the production of Valentine Cards, have turned their attention in this direction, and have used their exceptional facilities for producing some entirely fresh and original designs for this purpose, which they believe will prove exceedingly popular.

With these new designs they have included a few of their popular holdiday designs suitable to the purpose, so as to give a variety of sizes and prices; and special pains have been taken to secure for the various designs appropriate Valentine mottoes and sentiments.

It is believed the trade will find in these designs the most elegant and popular series of Valentine Cards ever offered. The list of prices varies from 10 cents to $3 per dozen.

Liberal discount to the trade. Complete sample sets of all styles, fifteen in number, and one dozen cards of each number, in different designs, sent to the trade for $6 net, postage prepaid.

We beg to call the special attention of the trade to a large and attractive assortment of fresh Birthday and Easter Cards, which we are now preparing for the coming season, and which will surpass in elegance of design and excellence of execution anything we have issued heretofore in these directions.

BUSINESS FOR SALE.

A and bisness in a large Western city. Stock BOOK and stationery store doing a good wholesale would invoice about $30,000. A good bargain. Excellent reasons given for selling. Address "BARGAIN," care of the "Publishers' Weekly."

WISffer for sale the book, stationery, and fine-art-goods

WISHING to retire entirely from active business life, I

business which I have conducted in Oakland, California, under the firm-name of Strickland & Co.

In a business career of a third of a century, I have never known a more desirable book and stationery business; in view of the limited capital required, and the unequalled climate, social, and in every other sense present and prospective advantages of Oakland as a residence and business location.

If there is a climate more desirable on this continent, or a city whose population is increasing more rapidly (now over forty thousand), I do not know where it is.

The stock and fixtures cost between fourteen and fifteen thousand dollars, at which price they can be bought for cash, with the good-will.

If I sell to the right party, and he preferred it, I would be willing to retain an interest as special partner. I now enjoy the best and most desirable portion of the business done here, and the present stock has been laid in with a view to catering to that trade, and consists of the best quality of each class of goods. WILLIAM STRICKLAND, Oakland, California.
