The following extracts of Acts of Congress are published for the information and government of all concerned:

I.. [PUBLIC-No. 82.]

AN ACT making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the government for the year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, and for other purposes.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the office of Commissioner of Public Buildings is hereby abolished; and the Chief Engineer of the army shall perform all the duties now required by law of said Commissioner, and shall also have the superintendence of the Washington aqueduct and all the public works and improvements of the government of the United States in the District of Columbia, unless otherwise provided by law; and the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate and the Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives shall hereafter appoint the members of the Capitol Police.

AN ACT making appropriations to supply deficiencies in the appropriations for contingent expenses of the Senate of the United States for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums be, and the same are hereby, appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury no otherwise appropriated, for the objects hereinafter expressed, namely:

For the repair of Long Bridge, District of Columbia, to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of War,

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the several sums of money. heretofore appropriated to be expended under the direction of the Commissioner of Public Buildings be transferred to and may be expended mler the direction of the Chief Engineer of the army, or such officer of the Engineer Corps as he may direct.

III.. [PUBLIC-No. 19.]

AN ACT to authorize the appointment of certain watchmen, and for other purposes.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all moneys appropriated for the Washington aqueduct and for the other public works of the District of Columbia shall be expended under the direction of the Secretary of War. SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That all laws inconsistent with this act are hereby repealed.

The following Resolution of Congress is published for the information and government of all concerned :

[PUBLIC RESOLUTION-NO. 32.]

JOINT RESOLUTION providing for the expenses of carrying into full effect an act entitled "An act to provide for the more efficient government of the rebel States."

Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That sufficient money is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to defray the expenses of carrying into full effect in all its parts an act entitled "An act to provide for the more efficient government of the rebel States," passed March two, eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, with all its supplementary acts: Provided, That the amount shall not exceed five

hundred thousand dollars.
